Robots, Artificial Intelligence, and Service Automation in Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Know how to apply the various theoretical frameworks in the analysis and research of robots, artificial intelligence and service automation (RAISA) in travel, tourism, and hospitality (TTH)
  • Critically evaluate the economic fundamentals of the use of RAISA technologies in TTH
  • Be able to implement cost-benefit analysis of the use of RAISA technologies in TTH companies
  • Be able to develop a programme for the implementation of RAISA technologies in TTH companies

Indicative content:

  • Introduction and key terms
  • Current application of RAISA technologies in TTHDrivers of automation in TTH – demography, biosecurity threats
  • Theoretical frameworks for the study and the use of RAISA technologies in TTH
  • Economic fundamentals of the use of RAISA technologies in TTH
  • Cost-benefit analysis of the use of RAISA technologies by TTH companies – impact of RAISA technologies on TTH companies’ operations, marketing, human resource management, finance
  • Using RAISA technologies for a physically distant service delivery system
  • Design of robot-friendly hospitality facilities
  • Developing a programme for the practical implementation of RAISA technologies in TTH companies
