Hristo Ivanov

Hristo Ivanov is a dedicated molecular biologist and educator currently pursuing an MSc in Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences at Utrecht University. With a foundational BSc in Biology from Radboud University—completed with Honours and a minor in Data Science—Hristo combines high-level biological research with analytical expertise. His technical proficiency spans fluorescence microscopy, proteomics, and PCR, complemented by a strong commitment to academic mentorship as a Teaching Assistant for subjects like Statistics and Genomics and Big Data.
Hristo’s research portfolio is marked by international experience at prestigious institutions. He has conducted advanced studies on single-cell transcriptomics at Radboud University Medical Centre (Radboudumc) and investigated the dynamics of DNA loop extrusion at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics in Frankfurt. Currently, he is exploring itaconate metabolism in hepatocyte organoids at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht.
Beyond the lab, Hristo is a passionate advocate for science communication and accessibility. In June 2025, he participated in the Night of Science at the Max Planck Institute, presenting “Can DNA dance?” to the public. He firmly believes that cutting-edge research should be intuitive and open to everyone, striving to translate complex concepts into engaging narratives that spark a joy for discovery. A multilingual researcher, Hristo is fluent in Bulgarian and English, with working knowledge of German, Russian, and Dutch.
