From June 5 to 7, 2024, the #THEINC2024 Conference took place at Hotelschool The Hague, Amsterdam Campus, with the leading theme, "Technology Enabled Competitiveness and Experiences in Tourism, Hospitality and Events".
Stanislav Ivanov delivered two impactful presentations that highlighted the cutting-edge advancements in the tourism and hospitality sectors. The first one dealt with the economics of the Metaverse for tourism and hospitality, co-authoured with Faruk Seyitoğlu and Craig Webster. The second one, co-authored with Katerina Volchek and Celso Brito, explored the use of ChatGPT for sentiment analysis of customer reviews. It also won the Best Paper Award in the Tourism category for its innovative approach.
An insightful panel discussion on innovations and technologies in the hospitality and tourism sectors also took place, moderated by Elina Michopoulou, featured esteemed academics including Corné Dijkmans from Breda University of Applied Sciences, Dimitrios Buhalis, Juho Pesonen, Stanislav Ivanov, Silvia De Ascaniis and Ian Yeoman.
The discussion emphasised the cruical need for continuous training and reskilling, focusing on digital, social, and green skills. While artificial intelligence will be a key driver of innovation, the panel agreed that the true catalyst for progress lies in the hands of skilled, proactive human professionals.
